Scales Turkey Farm – 4 House Brooder Farm – Union Co., South Carolina
Scales Turkey Farm is a Turkey Brooder Farm located in Union County, South Carolina near Jonesville. The
farm is made up of 31 +/- acres and features four 50×500 houses that were built in 2011. The farm also has a double wide mobile home. Solar panels were added in 2019 to offset a large portion of the utility cost.
The farm is integrated with Circle S. In August 2020 the farm was converted from a grower operation to a
brooder operation. Most of the equipment was updated at this time. The birds stay on the farm 5 weeks,
then the out time is around 18-21 days. Circle S pays the natural gas and for the shavings. The contract
grower pays for the power, insurance, labor, maintenance, and water cost through the 11 wells on the farm.
The gross annual income will be around $258,000. Since having the solar panels installed, the average annual cost of power has been less that $5,000. With the conversion to a brooder operation the Feed Lines, Water
Lines, Lights, Brooders, and Fill Systems were all changed out.
Scales Turkey Farm is a bio secure area. No visitors are allowed on the farm without a PoultrySouth Team
Member present. All visitors to the farm will be required to prove a down payment ability of $250,000. All
visitors must abide by the Standard Operating Procedures for PoultrySouth and Circle S while on the farm.
